Created in collaboration with Conscious Economics, Lunar Studios, and Heartwork, Hear Me Out is a music and advocacy initiative designed to amplify the voices of women and gender-diverse gig workers across Canada. The campaign combined music, storytelling, and digital media to spark conversation around visibility, equity, and representation within the creative economy.
My Role
As the lead creative and visual designer for the campaign, I developed the overarching visual direction and cross-platform identity that supported the single's release across social media, streaming platforms, artist channels, and partner organizations. The challenge was to create a cohesive campaign system capable of uniting multiple artists, audiences, and organizations while preserving the individuality and authenticity of each contributor's story.
Objectives
The visual language drew inspiration from mixed-media collage, expressive typography, layered imagery, and contemporary editorial design. These elements were intentionally combined to reflect the themes embedded within the music: empowerment, vulnerability, resilience, and collective voice. Every creative decision was designed to strengthen emotional connection while maintaining consistency across a wide range of deliverables and touchpoints.
Impact
The campaign extended beyond a traditional music release, functioning as both a promotional initiative and a platform for community engagement. A flexible creative system was developed to support artist features, lyric content, reflection prompts, countdown assets, short-form video, streaming graphics, and advocacy-focused storytelling. This framework allowed multiple organizations and contributors to participate within a shared visual ecosystem while maintaining a consistent brand experience.
By aligning creative direction with social impact objectives, the campaign successfully strengthened visual cohesion across all participating partners while encouraging organic audience engagement through artist sharing, community participation, and cross-platform storytelling. More importantly, Hear Me Out demonstrated how thoughtful creative direction can transform a marketing campaign into a cultural conversation, using design as a tool to elevate underrepresented voices and foster meaningful connection.
